Everyone is talking about the selfie, from Barack Obama to Ellen.  “Selfie” was even named word of the year by Oxford dictionary back in 2013.  So in keeping with the the selfie craze, here are some fun tips to snapping your selfie:

Lighting:
Yes, we said lets have fun, but when it comes to capturing yourself in your best “light”, lighting is crucial and a step that we wouldn’t want you to compromise on.  Remember when it is too dark, that blurry ghost effect starts happening and that’s never a good look.

Use a Smartphone:
Break out the two facing camera.  Hey let’s face it, when there are so many people in the pic you want to make sure you don’t cut anyone out.

Long Arms Wanted:
Give your smartphone to the person with the longest arms.  The further away the better the affect.

Above Shoot:
Hold your camera on an angle and have everyone pretend that they are looking up like a bucket of water is going to fall on them. Believe it or not this can help give you that twinkling eye thing going on (as long as there is not an actual bucket of water about to fall on you of course :)).

Best Angle:
If you are not on your best angle than run to your best angle while the selfie is in progress.  Snap shots that look like someone is on the move always look hilarious and it gives your photo that unplanned look.

Lengthen your Neck:
This gives you that model slimming look.  When you are doing this say quack quack instead of cheese.

Who can make the funniest face?
Make sure you bring out your smiles and lots of funny faces – these are the best!
